|
SPECIAL NOTES - Most
classes will be adjudicated upon completion. Final classes will
be in the early evening, where possible, before 7.30 PM. This
cannot be guaranteed in the Rose Bowl or Championship Classes.

GENERAL RULES AND

All entries must
be made on the official Entry Form that can be downloaded from
this site, or obtained from the General Secretary, Music or Speech
Entries Secretaries or e-mail info@fleetwoodfestival.co.uk.
A separate form must be used for each COMPETITOR but not each
class
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
1. The competitions
are intended for amateurs. Professionals are not eligible to compete,
but conductors may be professionals and instrumental groups may
include one professional. For the purpose of the Festival, an
amateur is considered to one who has not received more than out
of pocket expenses for services rendered in that branch of the
art with which the competition is concerned.

|
|
2. Any deviation from
the Syllabus may lead to disqualification.
|
|
|
|
3. Competitors will
be notified of the time they are appointed to perform and may
be disqualified if not on the premises when called.
|
|
|
|
4. Excellent accompanists
will be provided. Children may bring their own accompanist if
they wish, for classes 3, 7 and 34. Only the Official Accompanists
may perform in vocal solo Competitions in any other classes unless
otherwise stated. All competitors in instrumental classes may
provide their own accompanist and no recorded backing will be
allowed.

5. The Committee may
cancel any Class containing not more than 3 entries.
|
|
|
|
6. The adjudicator's
decision is final, the only ground for objection being the bona
fides of the competitor.
|
|
|
|
7. The order of performing
will be balloted for by the Committee who also reserve the right
to refuse any entry. Competitors may only enter once in any solo
class.
|
|
|
|
8. In Junior Competitions,
the age stated in the syllabus is that of the competitor at the
time of competing.
|
|
|
|
9. In all classes
where a time limit is specified, the limit must be strictly adhered
to, or marks will be deducted at the adjudicator's discretion.
|
|
|
|
10. No entry will
be accepted unless:- a) the entrance fees are sent with the form
b) in Own Choice classes the title is given on the form c) in
Own Choice piano classes the Opus No. and Movement is given. The
title will be printed in the programme. NO CHANGES ARE ALLOWED
Festival test pieces cannot be used in own choice classes. Own
choice piece cannot be used in more than one class.

11. All competitors
in MUSIC own choice classes must bring a copy of their test piece
for the adjudicator on the day of competition. Those needing an
accompanist must send a copy to the ACCOMPANIST, whose address
will be sent with the competitor's ticket at least two weeks before
the Festival. In SPEECH own choice classes, competitors intending
to use copyright works must obtain permission from the owner of
the performing rights. A copy of the piece must be received with
the entry form, otherwise the entry will not be accepted and there
will be NO REFUND. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT CLASS NUMBER AND NAME
IS ON THE TOP OF OWN CHOICE COPIES. COPYRIGHT: In order to comply
with the agreement made with the Authors' Licensing and Collection
Society, the title of the piece, author and publisher must be
noted on the entry form. NO COMPETITOR MAY ENTER THE SAME PIECE
WITH WHICH A FESTIVAL CLASS HAS BEEN WON AT FLEETWOOD IN 2007.
11a. Own choice copies must be collected after the class or from
the Festival office, where a signature may be required. The Festival
cannot be held responsible for copies of music or speech left
by the competitors.

12. Due to copyright
restrictions, competitors may photostat one copy of own choice
music for use by the adjudicator, only if this music is from an
album. Otherwise it is illegal, and it will not be permitted for
competitors to offer Photostat copy music for use of adjudicator
or accompanist at the Festival. Competitors presenting Photostat
copies will automatically be disqualified.

13. Cheques, Postal
Orders, etc., should be made payable to 'Fleetwood Music and Arts
Festival' and not to an individual person.
|
|
|
|
14. A copy of the
adjudicator's remarks may be obtained free from the Steward at
the end of the class.
|
|
|
|
15. In Junior Classes
First, Second and Third place certificates will be awarded. The
Festival reserves the right to withhold an award where sufficient
merit is not shown. Certificates of Achievement will be available
for every competitor of school age.
|
|
|
|
16. All trophies are
Festival property. These will be held for eleven months and must
be returned to the Trophy Secretary during August. Holders will
be required to enter into a bond for their safe custody and return
in the boxes provided. ANY COST INCURRED IN RECOVERING TROPHIES
NOT RETURNED BY THE END OF AUGUST WILL BE CHARGED TO THE COMPETITOR.

17. When ordering
music, competitors should state that it is required for the 2008
Fleetwood Music and Arts Festival. Only the prescribed editions
will be permitted.
|
|
|
|
18. Competitors' tickets
will be the only receipt for the entrance fee and will be distributed
about three weeks before the Festival.
|
|
|
|
19. All communications
must be addressed to the General Secretary and a stamped addressed
envelope must be enclosed for a reply. Application for permission
to include each copyright test selection has, it is believed,
been made successfully. This form of acknowledgement, too, is
thought to be in accord with desire or stipulation.

|
|
|
20. The Committee
reserves the right to refuse to accept any Speech item that contains
language that may cause offence.
