year, family and friends were devastated by the death of
June Stansfield. |

| Working with her
over many years I particularly appreciated her devotion
to the speech and drama side of the festival. Her efficiency
and diplomacy made for smooth running of the festival itself;
many a nervous competitor (and teacher) was calmed by her
smiling encouragement and warmth of manner. |

| June brought good
sense and a co-operative outlook to the regular committee
meetings. |
|
| Her hospitality
at the annual verse-speaking selection gathering was our
highlight of the year June epitomised the spirit of the
"Friendly Festival". |
